I have been influenced to give OpenBSD a try by Dave Gauer and Derek Sivers. They both have great starter guides and writeups about the security-first operating system. OpenBSD tries to provide a minimal but capable set of utilities in adherence with the UNIX philosophy. While the UNIX philosophy is about as clear as mud sometimes, I believe the core principles are understandable: Don’t make tools any more powerful than they need to be.

This is my landing page for articles I will write about OpenBSD and my experiences with it. The manual pages are an incredible resource in their own right, and most problems can be figured out by reading them, and applying some user intuition. But not everyone has a good background in UNIX, and putting together those building blocks from rigid manuals might take a bit more guidance. I hope to offer some additional insight into certain problems, and setting up pieces of software which I feel are invaluable on a server.
